Job Description: Practice manager (full time)
The Practice Manager is central to veterinary practice.
The successful candidate will oversee the handling of finances, bookkeeping (including payroll), credit and debt control, human resources (including, staff recruitment and working patterns), marketing, advertising, client initiatives, and overall responsibility for running the PMS/phone system. Practice management for Haverfordwest and Pembroke Dock, Health and Safety.
As well as the ability to multi-task and to exhibit exemplary organisational skills, the successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate with a diverse range of staff from the directors through to nurses, trainees, reception staff, and clients.
At its heart, the role of the practice manager is to ensure the practice provides a caring and professional service to clients and their animals. This involves the development of a practice ethos and business strategy; ensuring staff training and continual professional development, promoting services and products, managing the practice website and social media campaigns, implementing a public relations strategy, local shows, and maintaining and developing customer relationships through appointment reminders, communications and loyalty schemes.
The manager will have overall responsibility for:
Dealing with client and staff concerns/issues
Overseeing stock control and surgical supplies and medications
Ensuring staff comply with SOP’s/Practice Standards
Organise meetings and staff reviews/appraisals
Induction training for new staff members

Essential criteria:
Working experience of business administration (payroll, VAT, banking)
Previous experience of managing people
No criminal convictions
Good spoken and written English
Computer literate
Driving Licence
Ability to empathise, solve problems and work under pressure
Desirable criteria
Vet practice / industry experience
Management qualification(s)
