Why Fenton Vets is proudly independent – and what it means for you
We’re proud to be an independent veterinary practice and believe it allows us to provide the best care for our patients.
It means that we’re free to deliver veterinary care as our directors believe it should be – tailored to every patient’s needs and client’s situation, with open communication and fair, transparent pricing.
Each of our directors – Shaun Sinclair, Rowan Pyzer and Lisa Phillips on the small animal side, Mike John, Alex Cooper and Matt Evans for farm – is either from Pembrokeshire or has built their lives and rooted their family here.
Each is a working vet who is actively involved in the care of our patients.
It is this combination of passion for our community and knowledge of the day-to-day needs of our practice that means our independent ownership allows us to make the best decisions for our clients.
By maintaining a healthy practice and by investing in our team and equipment, we protect the future of our independence, ensuring the next generation of owners can continue to prioritise our clients and patients.
We deliver contextualised care
Contextualised care is something of a buzzword in the veterinary industry – but it’s something that our directors believe allows us to offer the best service for local pet owners and farmers.
What does that look like in practice? Essentially it comes down to presenting owners with options and helping them to make the right decisions for them and their pet or farm.
It means:
- Offering treatment plans for all budgets and being transparent with owners.
- Enabling our team to make clinical recommendations based on what is right for you, without any pressure, targets or incentives.
- Understanding, respecting and working with the fact that there may be ethical, financial or logistical reasons that you may not want to go down the path we believe is the perfect clinical plan.
All of this is underpinned by our commitment to open communication and transparent, fair pricing.
Independent vets for independent farms
Our farm team build tight relationships with Pembrokeshire’s farmers, forming an invested and supportive cog in local businesses.
And you only have to look at the background of our farm directors to know we’re on the same page as our clients.
Director / Farm Animal Vet
Mike John
Mike is the latest in a long line of contributors to Pembrokeshire farming, from a family that boasts generations of local dairy farmers.
Director / Farm Animal Vet
Alex Cooper
Alex has lived in the area for over 20 years, moving straight after finishing vet school, and has become embedded in the community – not just with farming, but as a coach and members of various clubs and organisations, including triathlons, climbing and foiling.
Associate Farm Director
Matt Evans
Matt grew up in Pembrokeshire and his grandfather worked on local farms all his life, all of whom used Fenton Vets, introducing Matt to our practice from a young age.
All of this local knowledge means we understand the landscape we are working in both economically and physically. It means we can drill down on exactly what our farm clients need for their business, to improve animal welfare and avoid costly problems down the line.
We value our relationships with our clients and count them as our friends – and we’re passionate about the quality of local produce. These are the priorities and values of our owners – and that means that they’re the priorities and values of our practice.
We are proud to be your local, independent veterinary practice, dedicated to maintaining the health and happiness of the animals we treat. Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your pets and farm animals. Your support allows us to continue providing the personalised, high-quality veterinary services that set us apart.
