Registered Veterinary Nurse | RVN
Emma
Emma is Pembrokeshire born and bred, and has spent her entire career at Fenton Vets. She visited the practice on work experience from Pembrokeshire College in 1995 and never left – taught the ropes by Joy and Mr Gregory, she went on to spend many years as a nursing assistant before qualifying as a registered veterinary nurse in 2012.
Emma's favourite parts of the job are the kennel shift, seeing patients through the day and the moment owners and their pets are reunited at the end of it. She has a particular enjoyment for nurse clinics, especially diabetic patients – helping owners get to grips with what can feel like a daunting new routine, and then watching their confidence grow alongside their pet's improvement.
At home, Emma shares her space with quite a menagerie – three dogs, including border terrier Carol, rescue lurcher Chase and a cockapoo called Samuel; four horses, including a mini Shetland, two Welsh ponies and an Irish cob; two ferrets; two guinea pigs; and a goldfish. Keeping track of them all is a full-time job in itself.
When she's not at the practice, Emma's main focus is her family. She loves riding her horse Tommy with her daughter, enjoys dog walks and helps a friend with his shire horses at weddings and other occasions. Zumba and time with friends fill whatever's left.
Her favourite thing about Pembrokeshire? She's lived here her whole life and couldn't imagine being anywhere else. The beaches, the woodland walks and the summers – as far as Emma is concerned, they're just special.
