Director – Farm Animal Vet | Cert CHP BVSc MRCVS
Mike John
Agriculture has always been part of Mike's life – coming from a dairy farming family, the world of farm vetting was a natural fit. He graduated from the University of Bristol in 2002 and went straight into farm practice with The George Vets in Malmesbury before moving back to Pembrokeshire in September 2004. He hasn't looked back since.
Mike works closely with farmers across the county, with a particular focus on dairy, while still valuing the variety that beef and sheep work brings. He holds an RCVS Certificate in Cattle Health and Production and has been a director at Fenton Vets since 2011.
At home, Mike has two cats – Tuco and Ronnie – and three children who are starting to fly the nest. Over the years he has turned his hand to sea rowing, flying, running and sailing, among other things, though he'll admit that none of them have stuck for too long. At the moment it's building and swimming keeping him busy – and family life filling the rest. He does still hold a pilot's licence somewhere, though his wife has reportedly hidden it to keep him on the ground.
His favourite thing about Pembrokeshire? The beautiful landscapes and the wonderful farming community – and for someone who has spent his career working right in the heart of both, it's a hard combination to argue with.
