Prescriptions
For your convenience, you may request repeat prescriptions through the website. This is for pets on long-term regular medication only (eg. heart treatment, diabetes, arthritis).
Legally, we can only prescribe or dispense prescription only medicines to animals 'under our care'. In most cases this means examining the animal at least every six months.
From the 4th January 2010, we will be implementing changes in the costs of some long term medicines, and the cost of examinations by a veterinary surgeon of animals taking long-term medicines.
The cost of many medicines will go down. They are a number of products used to treat animals with long-term problems.
The cost for a veterinary examination of an animal on long-term medicines, also known as a 'Repeat Medication Review' or a ‘Prescription Check’, will be £17.56 + VAT (correct at 01-Jun-2010).
This change follows the Marsh Report, a government review on the cost and supply of veterinary pharmaceuticals. This has lead to many changes in the supply chain for medicines.
On line requests will be processed the next working day. Alternatively, you can request a repeat prescription by telephone during office hours.
