In-House Laboratory

The Fenton Veterinary Practice reached another milestone in early March 2008 when it launched the use of an in-house lab machine from a company called IDEXX. The in-house lab machine will allow us to improve our services even further by enabling us to do many get laboratory test at the practice instead of sending them to labs round the country.
The new lab machine will give us access to fast and reliable blood results from a wide range of parameters, however, depending on each particular case and with the vet's discretion, some tests will still have to be sent away to be done in an outsourced lab. We will inform the owner of this so to predict the approximate time as to when the results should be back to Fenton Vets.
The lab machine itself consists of the state of the art laser haematology machine called "LaserCyte", a dry-method electrolyte processor called "VetStat", and "VetTest" for biochemistry testing. All the analysers are connected with each other and are able to send the lab results to our practice's computerised patient records system.
